At Breaking The Chains International, our mission is simple but urgent: to deliver life-saving food, veterinary supplies, and humanitarian aid to animals and communities in crisis.
We work across Ukraine and beyond to support stray animals, under-resourced shelters, and independent rescuers, those often overlooked and underfunded.
Through powerful, unfiltered storytelling from the ground, we aim to shine a light on their realities, raise global awareness, and rally meaningful support for those who need it most.
This is more than rescue. It's a movement of compassion, courage, and commitment.
Rescuing Animals from the Frontlines of Crisis
In the past we have rescued animals of all types and sizes from some of the most dangerous and challenging conditions. Whether it was the aftermath of a natural disaster or the devastation of war, we responded swiftly, providing life-saving care and a second chance to those who had no voice of their own.
From Media to Mission
Founded by Tom S-N, Breaking The Chains began not as a rescue operation, but as a media company focused on raising awareness about the neglect, abuse, and suffering animals face around the world. The goal was to shine a light on cruelty and injustice, giving the voiceless a platform and the public a reason to care.
But everything changed on February 24, 2022, when Russia invaded Ukraine.
From the Battlefield to the Rescue Line
Using his extensive military and combat experience, Tom entered Ukraine with his friend Steve just days after the invasion began. What followed was extraordinary—animal evacuations from active war zones, carried out under fire, in destroyed cities, and in heartbreaking conditions.
Within weeks, Breaking The Chains was recognised as one of the most effective and fearless animal rescue teams in Ukraine, able to go where few others could and save those others couldn’t reach.
